STEVEN R. WAGNER specializes in co-op and condominium law, as well as litigation. He is a graduate of Oberlin College (1974) and Brooklyn Law School (1977), and is a member of the New York and Florida State Bars, the United States District Court, Southern and Eastern Districts, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Wagner’s ability to “cut to the heart of the matter” and explain legal issues clearly quickly established him as a leading attorney in the rapidly expanding co-op and condominium field. His litigation background, common sense and intellectual toughness attracted clients from a variety of fields, including real estate, co-ops and condominiums, land use, leasing, and commercial and corporate law. Today, Wagner’s clientele is varied, and in addition to representing a large number of co-ops and condominiums he maintains and services corporations, commercial and residential real estate developers and landlords, real estate and investment entities, individual directors and partners involved in corporate or partnership disputes, residential and commercial tenants and tenants’ associations, and a number of restaurateurs, to the Supreme Court of the United States.
Wagner, an expert in the real estate field, is frequently quoted in publications, including The New York Times, the New York Post, the New York Daily News, the New York Observer, and Crain’s New York Business. In addition, Wagner has written on legal issues for both The Cooperator and New York Habitat, publications specializing in co-ops and condominiums. He is frequently interviewed for articles focusing on New York City real estate issues, and has lectured extensively for the Federation of New York Housing Cooperatives, the New York County Lawyers’ Association, and the Council of New York Cooperatives. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the New York State Bar Association, the New York County Lawyers’ Association, and the New York State Trial Lawyers’ association.
Wagner is married and has a daughter, and enjoys boating, vintage sports cars, movies, music, and “making deals happen.”
