BONNIE REID BERKOW was born in Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada in 1947. Bonnie graduated Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1968. Originally a teacher, Bonnie changed her profession when she came to the U.S. during the 1970s to marry a native New Yorker. She began work as a legal secretary and found herself intrigued with the law. Attending school at night while she worked days, Bonnie graduated Brooklyn Law School in 1980. She is admitted to the New York and California State Bars and to the U.S. District Court, Southern and Eastern Districts and to the United States Court of Appeals.
From the onset of her career, Bonnie was drawn to the practice of litigation. Her calm, resolute demeanor and strong writing skills have contributed to her success in the field. She has litigated many types of cases, including construction, co-op and condominium, corporate, land use, leasing, commercial, human rights, and negligence. Bonnie is married and has a daughter. She rides a motorcycle, is a competitive figure skater, and enjoys dancing, reading, movies and music.
